Patient Services Navigator

AM morning shifts are usually 08:00 – 13:00/08:30 – 13:30

PM afternoon shifts are usually 13:00 – 18:00/13:30 – 18:30

We are looking for a Patient Services Navigator for our GP practice.

Essential for the role

  • Live within a commutable distance of Banbury
  • IT literate

Main duties of the job

Being part of our Patient Services team is so much more than booking appointments. In this role you will help people, often when they need it the most. The doctors and nurses depend heavily on the staff to provide support to the patients and other teams in the surgery.

This is a busy and varied role that you will find interesting and often challenging but rewarding. You will be joining a friendly, approachable, and committed team.

Candidates should be flexible as there will be occasions where they may be asked to work additional and/or different hours to cover colleagues’ sickness or annual leave.

This role may involve

  • Meeting and greeting, and answering the telephone
  • Booking appointments with the appropriate clinician
  • Signposting patients to alternative service providers or information sources
  • Dealing with patient queries, in person and over the phone
  • Attending to requests from clinicians and administration staff
  • Answering requests from external agencies
  • Adding information to patient notes

Phlebotomist

  • Working pattern: Part-time (8 hours per week minimum) Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday mornings required.

Job summary

We are a forward-looking, partner lead practice which values autonomy for all staff and continuity of care for patients.

We are looking for an additional Phlebotomist to join our lovely team on a part time basis.

Work pattern

Part time hours (minimum 8 per week).

Occasional Saturday mornings required.

Flexibility to work additional hours and cover for our other Phlebotomist in periods of leave and sickness is essential.

Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or Nurse Practitioner.

Please note

Successful candidates and their immediate household cannot also be patients at Hightown Surgery. If necessary support can be given to assist with moving practice if you are a Hightown patient.

Main duties of the job

Collection of sample(s)s of blood in accordance with training and procedures

Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers

Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity

Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible

Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure

Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.

Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff

Notifying the GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues

Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
